Social Media and Content Lead
Social Media & Content Lead (Part-Time, Front Range)
Shift Events | $30/hr + $250/event day | Averages ~10 hrs/week
Hey, bike people!
Shift Events runs some of Colorado's favorite cycling events: The Triple Bypass, The HUNDO, Salida76 Gravel, Banana Belt MTB, Blue Sky Hill Climb, and The Session Series. We do it a little differently. Riders register, local organizations volunteer to make the events happen, and the proceeds go back to those organizations doing good work in their communities. We believe bikes build better communities.
The role
This is a right-hand role to our Director of Brand & Partnerships. Your job is to bring our bigger content, brand, and partnership plans to life online. You'll manage six social accounts, mostly on Instagram and Facebook, with posting that ramps up and down around the event calendar.
Every post has a lot of possible jobs: driving registrations, giving riders something useful, showing off our partners, and sharing why we do this. The best ideas do several of those at once. We're looking for someone who loves that puzzle and brings fresh ideas without being asked.
What you'll own
Our six social accounts: what we say, how we say it, and how we keep it from getting boring
Creative ideas that bring our mission and the feel of our events to life, then making them happen
Ways to connect our partners with riders that add something to the rider experience, not just another logo post
Content that drives registrations and keeps riders coming back
Meta ad campaigns and budgets, including reporting on what's working and what isn't
Partner messaging and season deliverables
Larger content campaigns, from first idea to finished posts
Being on-site at our events to capture what it's really like and share it in real time
Keeping our channels feeling like a conversation: comments, DMs, rider stories, and reshares
You'll thrive here if you
Have ideas and enjoy pitching them
Take initiative and don't need a checklist to get moving
Are willing to try something new, see what happens, and learn from it
Can juggle multiple accounts and shifting priorities without losing track
Have run Instagram and Facebook for a brand, event, or nonprofit
Write like a person, not a press release
Bonus: you have hands-on Meta ads experience, including managing a budget. If you haven't run ads yet but you're eager to learn, we still want to hear from you.
Bonus: you ride or know the cycling world. It's not required. Curiosity goes a long way.
The details
$30/hr, averaging about 10 hrs/week, with a flexible schedule. Off-season is for planning, creating, and scheduling content ahead, so there's room for the real-time, less predictable needs of event season.
On-site event days are paid at a flat $250/event
One free entry to each of our events to give to someone meaningful to you
Partner gear
Must be based on the Colorado Front Range and able to travel to events around the state
[W-2 employee or 1099 contractor]

A short note on why this role sounds like your kind of thing
2–3 links to social content you've created. If you've run Meta ads, add a few sentences about one campaign: the goal, the budget range, and how it went. (No screenshots needed if the details are confidential.)
A quick creative prompt: Pick one of our events and tell us one idea you'd use on Instagram to show someone who's never been what it actually feels like to be there. A few sentences or a rough sketch is plenty. We want to see how you think, not a finished product.
